5 Ways to Increase Your Occupancy in the Off-Season

For some properties, the off-season is just around the corner and it can feel like a race to the finish line to figure out ways to increase your property’s occupancy during this time of year. Don’t fret, we have five simple ways to help you increase your occupancy in the off-season.

1. Off-season promotions & packages

Attract guests during your off-season by offering a special package or promotion. Provide an incentive for them to book with you during a less popular time to visit. Special packages are a great way to bring in guests that might otherwise not have booked a vacation with you, plus it provides an added value to your property.

Off-season promotions are also key to enticing visitors to book a vacation with your property. Consider extended stay promotions, percentage off promotions, and two-for-one promotions. The possibilities are endless!

Your guests will be excited about receiving something “extra special” and you will have filled a room that may otherwise have been empty, it is a win-win for everyone!

2. Stay social

Social media followers aren’t seasonal users. They are always online, no matter what time of year. So just because your business might slow down a bit it shouldn’t mean your social media efforts should do the same. Staying relevant via social media is an inexpensive and effective way to stay top-of-mind all year round.

Social media is another great way to inexpensively and effectively highlight your off-season promotions and packages. Even offer special social media only discounts to your followers if they take an action such as share your page, comment on your posts, or participate in a contest. These are all ways to engage your customers during the off-season and gain exposure to new customers as well.

3. Create content with an off-season spin

You know why your property and destination are fantastic, even in the off-season, but your customers may not know. So, tell them! Educate them through creative content, like your blogs, on why your destination and property are perfect for their upcoming getaway, even in the off-season. Highlight all the great things to do and see like, “5 fun things to do in Virginia Beach, even in winter”. Build out vacation guides that highlight area attractions and events during the off-season and start sharing with your customers, so they know now why you are a great place to visit year-round!

4. Partner with local companies

Partner with local companies who have branches or offices in other areas, so there would be a need for accommodations when they come for a company meeting or retreat. This will not only be helpful during your off-season but could give you an additional niche market for year-round business. If your property also has space and capacity to hosts events and meetings partner with them as their go-to property for hosting their next event.
